ADVANTAGES	DISADVANTAGES
People can communicate efficiently by using a network such as emails, instant messaging chat room & etc.	Breakdown of whole network may lead to loss of important data of the server.
Can benefit large organizations to maintain their data in an organized manner & facilitate access for desire people.	Building a network for large scale organizations are very pricey especially to buy & replace cables & other hardware.
Can reduce the cost of purchasing hardware such as, in one small office just use one printer to print.	There are hackers who are trying to steal valuable data of large companies for their own benefit.
This will save time while maintaining the integrity of files.	Heavy users who consume a lot more bandwidth will affect other users.

Types of Transmission Media

Physical transmission 

Twisted Pair Cable:-

consist of one/more twisted-pair wires bundled together. often use for network cabling & telephone systems.

Coaxial cable:-

consists of a single copper wire surrounded by three layers, an insulating material, a woven/braided metal & a plastic outer coating.

Wireless transmission 

Infrared:-

medium that sends signals using infrared light waves.

Microwave:-

radio waves that provide a high-speed signal transmission.

Dial-up modem 

can convert digital signals to analog signals and analog signals to digital signals. so that data can travel along an analog telephone line.

Network card

a communication device that enable the computer/device that does not have built-in networking capability to access a network.

Hub 

allows multiple connections to the network.

Basic Concept Of Network

Ussually, the connections between computers in a network are made using physical wires or cables. However, some connections are  wireless, using radio waves or infrared signals.
